Welcome to shopshadyoaksfarm.com! Back in 2015 we decided to open our very first shop. A dream and a plan quickly became a reality. Through a lot of hard work, dedication and help from amazing friends on social media we opened our virtual doors in January of 2016.
In the beginning it was a lot of trial and error. We found out what worked best for us and began shipping our first orders from a spare bedroom in Janice's house. Needless to say, that didn't last long. By June of 2016 we'd outgrown our space and had started building the warehouse we currently use today.
Our new warehouse allows us to stock most our products and get them out to you much faster than we did when we first opened. We primarily specialize in farmhouse style decor along with some industrial, modern, mid-century modern and cottage style pieces. So basically, whatever catches our eye! We are so excited to find amazing products and vendors that allow us to share our love of decor with all of you.
Just in case you're wondering how the "farm" was added, we do own a farm. We keep a large apiary and harvest lots of fruit and vegetables each year. You can read more about it on our blog post, "Do you know how we got our name?"
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to visit Shady Oaks Farm. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or comments at email@example.com. We appreciate you guys so much!
Janice is co-owner of Shady Oaks Farm. She was born and raised in Arkansas. The small town, slow way of life is perfect for Janice and her husband, Joe. She enjoys working in her garden and growing ALL the flowers. She and Joe also love spending time on the river and with their grandchildren. While her kids were small, Janice decided to go back to school and get her RN degree. She works a full time job in home health but also takes the time to be our warehouse go to. All orders that pass through our hands started in hers. She is also responsible for all our Pinterest content and most of our stock photographs. When asked, "why did you open the shop?", her reply was "because Emily wanted to."
Emily is co-owner of Shady Oaks Farm. She has a newfound appreciation for urban-ish living and is currently obsessed with all things Trader Joe's. Emily was born in Texas and raised in Arkansas. She recently decided to up and move south to Louisiana. Emily never decided what she wanted to be when she grew up so she spent time in college with a major in chemistry and a minor in history with plans to go to medical school. She spent much of those years working in child care, retail, healthcare and so much more. In case you're wondering, Emily still hasn't decided what she wants to be when she grows up. She is currently working a full time job with a local home health company. She moonlights as our social media guru and keeps our website up-to-date. If it's broke, feel free to blame her. Emily has always enjoyed decor so when it came to opening an online boutique, home decor was the obvious choice. In between her full time and moonlight jobs, she attempts to keep a blog (The Simple Life at Shady Oaks) and have a life. If she's not on Instagram you can probably find her at the gym, hanging out with friends, binging on Netflix or shopping at Trader Joe's.
